The GI Joe Military Police set was issued by Hasbro for the Action Soldier. This vintage army set was first produced in 1964 with later variations in 1967 and 1968. The MP was smartly outfitted and prepared for duty on post.
In 1964, set #7521 was issued. This large boxed set came in
either brown or green uniforms. The "Ike" jacket in this set has the tag at the collar. This set distinguishes itself with the military award ribbons bar which is worn above the left pocket on the jacket. This set was equipped with: Ike jacket, Ike pants (also tagged Hasbro), award ribbons, red ascot, .45 caliber grip pistol,
black holster with red/orange leg ties, white pistol belt, billy club with lanyard, olive drab duffle bag, and the MP armband which secured around the left sleeve (the snap was attached to small hook). The small tan baton has an orange/red lanyard. The Hasbro billy club is not marked...unlike the Hong Kong relicas. The Army manual, the gear and equipment manual, and the GI Joe club folder were included.
The Military Police Helmet and Small Arms set
was issued in 1964. The helmet did not come in the boxed set, and was available on this carded set. The pistol belt, holster, .45 pistol, and baton were the same, but this carded set had the great addition of the MP helmet. The white helmet is marked on the front with the M.P. lettering. There is a chin strap
to secure. The helmet is marked Hasbro on the inside center.
The Military Police set #7539 was issued in 1967. A later version was issued in 1968 which had a tan uniform. The 1967 version had the green Ike pants and jacket. This set was an Airborne M.P.. His uniform jacket features the gold Airborne
wings patch over the left front pocket. The large boxed set came with: Ike jacket w/ Airborne parachute wings, Ike pants, black boots, red ascot, black M.P. helmet, M.P. armband, .45 caliber pistol, black holster with leg ties, white pistol belt, billy club baton with lanyard, and the military police field radio. Note this
special black radio communications pack with the yellow M.P. lettering. It has a antenna and telephone. The field radio is marked "Hasbro".
