The M-1 Rifle:

The m-1 field rifle is an eight round, .30 caliber. It is marked either on the stock or near the butt plate with "Hasbro". Also marked with country of origin. The field rifle came equipped with a removable multi-purpose bayonet. There is an elastic strap attached to brass rings for carrying the rifle. This rifle came in different sets. Some are...the machine gun emplacement set, the forward observer set, combat field jacket set, bivouac sleeping bag set, combat rifle set, beachhead assault field pack set, and marine weapons rack set.

.45 Caliber Pistol with Fine grip

The .45 caliber pistol is NOT marked. If yours says "Hong Kong"...or any other markings, then it is a copycat replica. Be sure to look along the barrel and trigger area for any markings that may have been rubbed out or smoothed. The vintage Hasbro .45 is a nice handgun, it has distinct features. The pistol is a steel color plastic with a brown grip. The grip has a rough raised texture. Notice in the picture...the screws and texture of grip...it is not a smooth surface. The Hasbro 45 was included with the Green Beret, the command post poncho set, military police set, command post small arms set, shore patrol set, shore patrol helmet set, tank commander, jungle fighter, scramble set, and Air Force security set.

Green Beret Bazooka

This bazooka came with the Special Forces 1966 set, #7532. It is for the Green Beret Action Soldier. The 9.5" working bazooka is green camouflaged. It has a special spring firing device that you can manually operate to launch the plastic M-20 anti-tank rocket shell. Two shells came with the special forces set. The bazooka is identified by the Hasbro marking stamped. Note the shoulder mount and hand grip which are sometimes broken off once the bazooka had been played with. Also note the little lever that guides the spring into place for launching the shells.

White Dress M-1 Rifle

This is the white M-1 dress rifle. It is marked Hasbro on the stock or near butt plate. If the rifle is just marked "Hong Kong", then you are dealing with a replica piece. The white rifle has an elastic strap secured by brass rings for carrying. The white M-1 is part of the Canadian Mountie set, the West Point Cadet set, Army Ski Troops set, Annapolis Cadet set, Navy Dress Parade Rifle set, Marine Dress Parade set, and Air Academy set. This was a popular rifle with many knock-offs...be sure to look for that Hasbro mark.

British Sten Mark 2-S Submachine Gun

This weapon is the 9mm Sten Mark 2-S submachine gun. It was part of the British Commando set #8104 of 1966. This gun is marked "Hasbro". This is a magazine fed submachine gun, and the clip is removable. The black clip is shown in picture. The pictured gun is missing the elastic carrying strap that should be attached. The strap is held by rings...one at the bottom of rear stock and the other at bottom of upper barrel...will update this photo ASAP, but wanted to show the gun for reference.

40mm Grenade Launcher

This is a 40mm grenade launcher. It is marked Hasbro. The elastic strap for carrying is attached...should be nice and tight in new condition. This strap has been stretched out, but is shown to illustrate launcher. This was part of the Marines Weapons Rack Set #7727.

.30 caliber carbine with banana ammo clip

The .30 caliber carbine features the black banana ammo clip. It also has a elastic shoulder strap. The carbine is marked with the "Hasbro" stamp...signifies that you have authentic G.I. Joe. The carbine was part of the Marine paratrooper parachute pack set, and the paratrooper small arms set.

Identifying GI Joe accessories....just some info

81mm Mortar

This is the 81mm mortar that came in the Action Soldier set, Heavy Weapons Set #7538. It is marked "Hasbro". This weapon has a spring loaded device that could be loaded with a rocket shell and fired. The original set came with three plastic mortar shells. The mortar was complete with the round base plate to keep the mortar steady. It also was equipped with a bipod and elevation pole to allow you to set a target height.

M-60 Machine Gun

The M-60 machine gun also came in set #7538, the Heavy Weapons set for the Action Soldier. Correctly stamped "Hasbro" as authenic. The photo shows the accompanying 37 round ammo belt as well. The M-60 also has a detachable folding bipod for steadiness (not pictured). This machine gun is detailed and has nice color tones for added reality.

7.62 D.P. Light Machine Gun

This weapon came with the Russian Infantry Man set, part of the Action Soldiers of the World series. This "burp" machine gun is marked "Hasbro". It came with the ammo drum and bipod. Note the colored tone end of the barrel, a hallmark of this weapon. The 7.62 D.P. light machine gun is a nice example of the wide variety of accessory items produced to create realism for added enjoyment.
